Read your writeup with in today’s WSJ and just ordered the book on Amazon. It sparked my curiosity about a house near my parents that was built by Grissom in Crested Butte, CO, and I suspect if anyone you may know it’s history. The house is pictured center here, and reading today learned it was built jointly with Gordo Cooper.
My question is whether you know about the capsule looking house shown at the right. Rumor has it was built by another astronaut but have heard any authority on that cla M. Just curious if you know more about Grissom’s time in CB and if you’d care to share. Perhaps you’ve written about it extensively in your book, which will arrive Monday. Thank you, Mine
Wish I knew more about Gus and Gordo’s time in CB time, which is referenced in my book but not in great detail. You might also check Gordo Cooper’s book, “Leap of Faith,” which is not a particularly reliable reference but may contain more information about the house in CB. -George
This book brings back many memories. As a 19-year old Marine serving on the USS Randolph (CVS-15), I watched the capsule descending and Capt. Grissom’s rescue as it began to sink. Still have the letter I wrote home about it.

You mentioned you would be signing your book at Udvar Hazy in DC and Dallas. Do you have dates for the signing. I can not get up to one, but I would like to order one signed from them. Or can I send you a copy to be signed?

I’ll be signing copies of “Calculated Risk” at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum downtown DC location from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug.13 and the Udvar-Hazy Annex at Dulles International Airport (not Dallas!) from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.
